Care instructions and laundry symbols

Care instructions and laundry symbols

Safety workwear is used to protect workers against industrial hazards and climatic effects. Such use pre-conditions the major requirements to workwear – it should preserve its protective properties and look neat and nice during its entire useful life.

Safety workwear is provided to workers in accordance with Order No.290н approved by the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation on June 1, 2009.

The choice of workwear is directly related to specific features of operations expected to be performed. Workwear should be chosen according to the height, size, occupation, and field-specific operations. After a work shift, workwear should be cleaned (cleaning helps to preserve its protective properties), dried (as appropriate) and left in properly equipped purpose-specific locker rooms in the facility.

Well-organized activities to take care of workwear are fundamental for proper use of workwear and corporate outfits, since such care improves their healthcare effects, helps to keep them safe, and prolongs their useful life. Dirt impairs protective properties of clothes. Laundry, cleaning and drying instructions are specifically developed to preserve protective properties of workwear. Workers should strictly follow all the instructions provided on labels and in manuals.

Up-to-date fabrics used in workwear are designed to withstand multiple washing cycles, which will not affect specifications and quality of such fabrics. However, one should take care when washing workwear and corporate outfits. Clothes made of specifically impregnated textile fabrics and extreme cold-proof workwear (like wadded trousers, quilted coats etc.) will lose their unique properties after washing. Thus, if such workwear gets too dirty, it should be dry-cleaned by licensed companies. If specifically impregnated cotton workwear is washed, its protective properties will need to be restored after washing.

Safety cotton and blended fabric workwear should be washed at 40 to 60°C and ironed cool at no more than 150°C. If workwear is coloured (for instance, if it is blue), it must not be bleached. White workwear (e.g., robes) can be bleached.

Polyester workwear (100% PE) should be washed at temperatures no higher than 40°C and either ironed cool or not ironed at all.

Workwear with brand logos (made by silk-screen printing, thermotransfer techniques etc.) should not be washed at high temperatures; should not be tumbled dry high; and should not be ironed. If it is allowed to iron such workwear, it should be ironed cool and from the inside, if possible.

Workwear should be dry-cleaned or washed either by the facility using it or by licensed laundries.

Workwear should be disposed of so as to prevent any hazardous impact on people and the environment. Any workwear shall be disposed of as provided by corporate standards.

Rules for selection and storage of footwear, and care instructions

Rules for selection and storage of footwear, and care instructions

Workers wear safety boots all the time while working. Such boots and other footwear provide protection against various industry-related hazards and climatic factors. That is why the requirements to such footwear are much higher than those set forth for daily shoes and boots. Protective footwear must be completely comfortable, wear-resistant and safe.

When choosing footwear, one should take account of its protective properties and the settings in which it is expected to be used. Size and width are other factors determining the choice of proper footwear – the foot should not be squeezed since event the slightest compression obstructs blood circulation and may cause pain.

Instructions for storage

Relative humidity (50 to 65%) and ambient temperature (8 to 18°C) are important factors affecting footwear in storage. Other factors affecting footwear include sunlight, dust content in the ambient air, arrangement of the goods on shelves, presence of moths and rodents in the warehouse, and use of chemicals.

For storage of felt, leather and rubber footwear with elements of wool and natural fur lining, all shelves and walls of the warehouse (as well as the footwear itself) should be treated with moth-repellents.

Care instructions

Footwear in use is exposed to various environmental factors (such as water, dirt, temperature fluctuations, dust, and industrial factors) impairing its properties. That is why even the most high-quality footwear will get out of order pretty soon unless it is cared for and used properly.

Footwear should be cleaned, dried, polished and oiled with purpose-specific chemicals. In order to prevent early wear of leather boots and shoes and to preserve their operating and useful properties, one should abide by the following rules:

  • Use footwear and intended and according to its protective properties;
  • After each work shift, footwear should be brushed, wiped with wet and then dry soft flannel cloth and placed into a well-ventilated room, where it will get ventilated and dried. Footwear should be dried at the room temperature. It is prohibited to dry boots, shoes etc. on any heater;
  • Footwear should be treated with purpose-specific agents (at least once a week) as provided by relevant standards. Such agents include chrome leather shoe polish, Russian leather shoe grease and purpose-specific agents. Footwear should be cleaned using rubber brushes for velour, nubuck etc.;
  • In order to make shoes or boots look better, they should be treated with polishes (applied using sponges), oils, waxes and sprays. In most cases, footwear is oiled to make it water-repellent. Read the operating and care instructions thoroughly to properly use and take care of footwear;
  • Any boots or shoes should not be worn continuously for more than 9 to 12 h. Our models were tested for strength, comfort and durability in various industrial and climatic settings, and development of additional solutions has allowed us to broaden the range of their use.

Climatic belts

Climatic belts

In accordance with GOST R 12.4.303-2016, winterized workwear is divided into four classes by its cold-proofing properties according to climatic belts of Russia.

WHEN CHOOSING WINTER CLOTHES, ONE SHOULD TAKE ACCOUNT OF WHETHER IT IS POSSIBLE TO USE SUCH CLOTHES in a certain climatic belt. At the same time, winter clothes should comply with relevant requirements, which are determined on the basis of estimates for moderately hard work and a long period of continuous stay of workers OUTDOORS IN COLD WEATHER (WHICH SHALL NOT EXCEED 2 HOURS).
